Entrepreneurs unite at the Sanlam SMME Collective

Last week, more than 500 entrepreneurs and stakeholders came together for the inaugural Sanlam SMME Collective. Hosted in collaboration with Sanlam Investments, Santam, and Sanlam Corporate, the event provided a platform to share experiences in the SMME space. As part of the event, Santam’s CSI team showcased Thuto Jewellery, a youth-led enterprise based at Kutlwanong School for the Deaf in Phokeng, founded by Mr. Thuto Pule. Combining local craftsmanship with skills development, Thuto Jewellery provides practical training and a graduate development stream for deaf learners and aspiring jewellers in partnership with Orbit TVET College. Santam’s Safer Schools Programme also supported the initiative through a risk assessment, helping ensure a safe and sustainable environment. This partnership strengthens enterprise sustainability, market access, and financial empowerment. By supporting Thuto Jewellery at the Sanlam SMME Collective, Santam demonstrated how its CSI and CFE initiatives foster inclusive entrepreneurship, resilience, and lasting impact across South Africa.
