Comprehensive cover for cancer
A cancer diagnosis can take a serious toll on you and your loved ones. While cancer prevention is always best to reduce your cancer risk, such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle and healthy weight, being physically active, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and reducing alcohol intake and processed foods, cancer protection insurance gives you that added peace of mind. Even if you have medical aid and gap cover, treatment can be very expensive and place a strain on your finances at an already difficult time.
That’s why we’ve introduced Sanlam Cancer Cover. It provides comprehensive cover for cancers, tumours, leukaemia and lymphomas as well as early cancers, and pays you a lump sum to help you manage costs like missed work days, childcare or transport to treatment centres.
Cancer catch all
To provide even more comprehensive cancer cover, our cancer benefit includes a Cancer Catch-all feature. Catch-all claim events cover a variety of situations where a disease is not explicitly listed as a claim event, but seriously affects your health and ability to function. Cancer Catch-all cover pays for any stage I to IV cancer not covered under the other listed claim events for cancers, leukaemia and lymphomas.

Are there any exclusions or is there a waiting period for cancer cover?
You do not qualify for cancer cover if you currently have cancer. However, if you’re in remission, you may be able to take out cover depending on factors like the type and stage of cancer as well as how long you’ve been in remission. There is no general waiting period for cancer cover, but there is a survival period of 14 days.How old can I be to join this dread disease cover?
This is the maximum age at which you can take out the cover.
There are two options available:
Term Cover: the maximum entry age is 59 and your cover will end at age 64.
Whole Life Cover: the maximum entry age is 64 and you will be covered for cancer for your whole life.
How does cancer cover differ from medical aid?
Cancer cover doesn’t replace your medical aid or gap cover but it can supplement your other cover if you’re diagnosed with cancer. It can also help with additional or hidden costs like travel to treatment centres, living expenses, at-home care, child care and missed work days.How much cover can I get?

Do my cancer insurance premiums change over time?
Your cover can be automatically adjusted every year for inflation. Doing so ensures that should you need to submit a claim against your policy several years from now, your cover will still carry the same relative value as it does the day you took it out.
