CA Training Programme
The Sanlam CA Training Programme is guided by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) regulations, which requires practical experience to obtain the prescribed technical and professional competence in the value creation process.
During the trainees’ three years on the Sanlam CA Training Programme, the trainees will be placed on rotations within Group Office and the different clusters within the Sanlam Group to obtain the relevant exposure to achieve the prescribed SAICA competencies.

How to apply
We only accept online applications from graduates who have either received a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) or are eligible to sit the board exam before the start of the training programme. Preference will be given to recent graduates, however all candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be considered. For positions requiring more experience, visit our careers page.
No previous permanent work experience, or less than 1 year of formal work experience
Academic performance record average of at least 60%
Leadership in community, university, or sport activities

- How do I apply?
Only online applications will be accepted. Please refer to the Sanlam Careers page for the SAICA Trainee Accountant vacancy.
- Who can apply?
You should have obtained your Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) or be eligible to write the board exam before commencement of the training programme in 2026.
- If my application is successful, when do I start working?
The programme start date is 01 January 2026.
- Where are the Sanlam graduate positions based?
The CA Programme is run from our Cape Town offices, with potential rotations to Johannesburg and other provinces. Should you not be based in Cape Town, you would have to relocate. Sanlam offers assistance with relocation.
- What is the closing date for applications?
31 May 2025.
